Acupuncture, herbs, cupping, moxa, acupressure, and Qi Gong are available at Acupunctureworkz. A typical appointment lasts from 60 to 90 minutes. For your first appointment, expect to fill out a questionnaire on general health questions, and then Leslie, your acupuncturist, may ask you questions to help guide her in providing you a treatment plan using Traditional Chinese Medicine. The goal is to help your body restore balance and well-being.

Acupuncture is the practice of inserting sterile, thin, hair-like needles into acupuncture points in certain patterns to regulate energy flow throughout the body. Nearly 5,000 years old, this ancient practice is not at all painful.  Most patients have very pleasant sensations during acupuncture, and even fall asleep during a treatment.

Many people can benefit from herbs.  Herbs provided at AcupunctureWorkz are safe and from an American company.  Herbs help complement your acupuncture treatment and are the "yin" to the acupuncture "yang."  Herbs help nourish the body and restore balance.

Cupping is a wonderful treatment designed to restore energy and blood flow to painful areas of the body

Moxa (mugwort herb) is an herb that is heated and applied to acupuncture needles, or used alone to help restore blood flow, and warm areas of the body that require this for healing.

Acupressure and reflexology can be used on people who are needle-phobic. It is typically not, in my opinion, as effective as acupuncture, but is certainly a helpful adjunct for people who do not desire acupuncture.

Qi Gong is form of energy work that is very relaxing and restorative.  Your acupuncturist can also teach you Qi Gong exercises to do at home to complement your treatment.  For Qi Gong classes, see QigongSanAntonio.com taught by Terri Murphy.  We highly recommend Terri for a wonderful way to learn this meditative exercise that will serve you well for a lifetime.
